SWTracker represents the second generation of SWConnect, designed for seamless integration with Spotwalla.com, the personal tracking manager.

With Spotwalla's transition to a new website and updated JSON-based API, SWTracker underwent a significant rewrite. This update provided an opportunity to utilize newer networking frameworks and the Apple-supported Swift language.

SWTracker enables users to connect and monitor their travel on the updated SpotWalla platform, accessible at this link. Spotwalla serves as a secure location management system, accommodating various devices—both physical and app-based—for tracking locations during travel. It is frequently utilized by long-distance motorcycle riders, cyclists, boaters, and RV enthusiasts.

The application facilitates connection with Spotwalla accounts, allowing for real-time progress tracking. Prior to this update, iOS users relied on Google Latitude to share their locations with SpotWalla; however, that service was discontinued in August 2013.

SWTracker is designed for background operation. After logging in, users need only activate tracking and place the app in the background while they go about their activities. Location points are stored alongside device information on SpotWalla, enabling users to create custom trips that display their location over designated periods.

Battery Usage Information:

• SWTracker utilizes GPS data, leading to battery consumption comparable to most navigation applications.
• Prolonged use of GPS in the background may significantly reduce battery life.
• The application now employs a lower GPS accuracy strategy when operating on battery alone; however, it is advisable to use external power whenever possible.
• It is also recommended to disable tracking in app controls during stationary periods to conserve battery.
